Taking Care of Your Teeth and Diabetes

Diabetes and your teeth: Tips for dental care

Managing your blood glucose levels can help prevent dry mouth and ensure that your gums and teeth stay healthy.

To keep your teeth and gums healthy:

  • Brush and floss your teeth properly.
  • Remove and clean dentures daily.
  • Have a dental check-up every six months, if possible.
  • Postpone any dental work which isn’t an emergency when your blood glucose levels are not in control (high).
